Recently released by Parmigiani Fleurier is the Tonda PF Sport

Note that I was only able to view/take photos of the stopwatch and PF Sport Automation photos provided by Parmigiani.

Both the PF Sport Automation and Chronograph have the same knurled bezel as the Tonda PF but are designed with 160 knurling instead of 225. The steel models do not use platinum for the bezel in keeping with the more casual style here. They also carry handcrafted “cloud triangle” guilloché from the GT collection as well as luminescent hands and indexes.

I was able to get some hands-on time with the steel chronograph repeater, so let’s get started with that. Executed with a panda dial layout, the case measures 42mm wide and 12.9mm thick with 100m of water resistance. It uses the same COSC PF070 certified movement as the standard PF chronograph that operates at 5 Hz and has a power reserve of 65 hours. You will notice that the 22k gold rotor has also been redesigned with inspiration coming from the Ferrari 250 GTO steering wheel. Like the current Tonda PF Chronograph, the date window is at the 4:30 position and is black in contrast to the dial. You can say it is like a beautiful version of Panda just like Cindy Crawford.

The simpler Tonda PF Sport Automation takes a similar approach of applying the sportier design elements of the old GT to create a more casual everyday leisure watch. Note that this is not a repackaging of the Tonda PF with a micro-rotor but uses the PF 770 movement that we saw used in the Tonda PF Automation 36mm released last year. The PF770 operates at 4 Hz and has a 60-hour power reserve with a stylized chronograph-like rotor. The case measures 41mm wide and 9.8m thick with 100m of water resistance. This larger box creates a smaller exhibition window than I’d like to see but there really isn’t much else to go wrong here. Personally, I would probably pay a few thousand more to get the standard Tonda PF micro rotor with platinum bezel and bracelet but the PF Sport Auto is sure to appeal to a lot of consumers looking for the More conventional entertainment watch there.

All Tonda PF Sport watches feature Cordura-treated rubber straps, which are both comfortable and really seem tailor-made for these as there isn’t even a hint of space anywhere. I think merging the sportier Tonda GT collection into these Tonda PF Sport watches would create a more consistent design language (although I’ve always been partial to the large date window on the GT). . Pricing for the Parmigiani Tonda PF Sport Automat in steel is $21,300 and $38,200 for the rose gold version while the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph is $29,000 for the steel version and $50,200 for the rose gold version.
