TAG HEUER, Autavia Chronometer Flyback
The Autavia, like the Carrera, Monaco, Formula 1 and Aquaracer, is one of Maison TAG Heuer’s signature watch collections. Derived from the contraction of the words “AUTomobile” and “AVIAtion”, the name of this collection was once displayed on the dashboards of racing cars and airplanes – from 1933 to 1957.
In 1962, TAG Heuer founder Jack Heuer decided to give the same name to his new chronograph. The 42 mm steel version now has a black ceramic rotating bezel with a 60-minute graduated scale. The large crown is shaped like the decorative crown on old pilot’s watches, and is easier to operate when wearing gloves. To ensure optimal visibility, the hands and indices – displayed on the silver dial – are coated with SuperLuminova®. This COSC-certified self-winding flyback chronograph comes with a red leather strap on the underside.
