Since its launch, the Lamborghini Urus has always been a multi-purpose SUV loved by the majority of car enthusiasts. This interesting SUV model is both capable of bringing a sporty feeling to the driver and has the convenience of Off-Road cars. Recently, this super SUV model has continued to prove its capabilities by successfully conquering the highest driving road in the world with an altitude of nearly 5900 meters.
The Lamborghini Urus has crossed the highest road in the world at the top of Umling La Pass in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, India, about 5900 meters above sea level. This road was built by the Border Roads Organization (BRO). For a long time, Umling La Pass has always been considered an engineering feat performed by BRO in harsh weather conditions with minimum temperatures ranging from -20 degrees to -10 degrees. This place is also a harsh road with thin air, difficult road terrain, rocky and rough surfaces, and wind speeds ranging from 40-80 km/h. Because of these characteristics, the road at the top of Umling La pass is a harsh and difficult place for any vehicle to conquer.
However, Lamborghini Urus successfully conquered this road twice in early October. With a twin-turbo V8 engine and impressive power with many multi-purpose off-road modes, this road cannot make it difficult for one of the world’s leading SUVs. With this route, the Urus has the opportunity to maximize its capabilities in a different aspect instead of the familiar speed conquests on beautiful roads.
Mr. Sharad Agarwal, Managing Director of Lamborghini India shared: “This is a proud moment for Lamborghini when Urus successfully conquered the extremely difficult and harsh Umling La pass. I would like to commend the Border Roads Organization (BRO) and its construction team for the beautiful, magnificent route they have created in a difficult, harsh situation. When we reached Umling La Pass, even though we only stayed for 30 minutes, it felt extremely harsh, which is why the entire construction team completed the road in such harsh weather conditions. is hard to imagine. During the 87.5 km long route from Hanle to Umling La, the Lamborghini Urus operated with Terra and Sport driving modes on this road and completed the challenge with ease.”
Lamborghini Urus is equipped with a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing 650 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 850 Nm of torque at 2,250 rpm. With a ratio of 162.7 horsepower/liter as well as the best power-to-weight ratio at 3.38 kg/horsepower. Furthermore, with the ability to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and the ability to reach 200 km/h in 12.8 seconds, Lamborghini Urus is capable of reaching a maximum speed of up to 305 km/h and is still one of the fastest super SUVs currently on the market.
The Urus has contributed significantly to the overall increase in Automobili Lamborghini sales since its introduction in December 2017. Lamborghini’s total production was recorded to have doubled in 2019 and also was the first year the Urus was marketed. Impressive levels of performance and absolute versatility are created by combining the DNA of a super sports car with the features of an SUV. During the first 6 months of this year, Urus continued to prove that this is the best-selling Lamborghini model today. The car model is also recognized as one of Lamborghini’s best-selling car lines, having sold about 15,000 units within just 3 years since its official launch on the market. This number will continue to increase because the appeal of this SUV model shows no signs of abating in large and small markets around the world.
