Pininfarina has officially begun production of the all-electric Battista, marking an important moment in history for the brand. After launching in 2019, the brand is now working hard to deliver all 150 1,900 horsepower Hypercar models. When these vehicles roll off the road, it will mark the most powerful commercial Hypercar ever built in Italy.
From start to finish the production process for just one Battista takes a total of about 10 weeks and consumes about 1,250 hours in total. Manufacturing and assembly take place at Battista Atelier in Cambiano, Italy. Previously, this was used as a research center for the brand and has now been completely refurbished to build this car and raise Pininfarina’s position in the car industry.
According to Pininfarina’s statement, Battista is capable of accelerating from 0 – 96 km/h in less than 2 seconds and can travel about 500 km per charge. Additionally, the brand is releasing a special edition of five pieces, each of which will take 18 weeks to make.
Per Svantesson, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina said: “The Battista Hyper GT is the realization of a dream, which began with the ambition to create a beautiful car that bears only the Pininfarina name. We are proud to have achieved that goal and in doing so, we are leading a movement into an exciting new era of luxury, where purity in design and focus on innovation sustainability will create impressive models from Automobili Pininfarina.”
Each Battista will be built by a team of 10 over a 10-week period and the car will be taken through 14 different production and quality assurance areas. The model has a three-week painting process, and many areas require the car to stay for two or more days before it can move forward. Upon arrival at the final work station, the vehicle is placed on a lift for 24 hours to complete a thorough wheel alignment.
The five special cars mentioned above are called Battista Anniversario and these cars have all found their owners. Each of these takes about 18 weeks to build and takes a total of 1,340 hours. These vehicles feature livery inspired by the brand’s heritage along with other signature details that pay tribute to the design house’s history.
Each owner is invited to the Atelier to meet the production team and watch their car being built. Pininfarina says that it will draw up a bespoke design proposal sheet created for each client before they are invited to Cambiano to work directly with the designers, who will then refine the specifications before close the order. Pininfarina says there are 128 million interior configurations and 13.9 trillion exterior combinations possible, so the probability of two cars being the same is very small.
The brand also says customer service will be provided throughout the life of vehicle ownership. When repair or maintenance is needed, an expert will fly anywhere in the world to fix the car. In addition, Pininfarina also offers a trio of warranty packages including Eccellenza, a 5-year or 10-year maintenance program. There’s also a Futura package that extends the powertrain and battery warranty to a total of ten years. Finally, the Eterna package offers buyers the opportunity to add parts (for future use if required) that are fabricated and painted with the vehicle itself to ensure the most perfect fit.
