In an exciting collaboration, Sylvain Pinaud and Massena LAB have teamed up to create a limited edition of the famous independent French watchmaker’s single-pusher chronograph, the first won the esteemed “Horological Revelation” Award at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). This special watch, fully dubbed the Chronograph Monopoussoir Sylvain Pinaud x Massena LAB, is an exclusive edition limited to just 10 pieces.
With its exquisite craftsmanship and unique design, the watch promises to captivate collectors and connoisseurs alike. The watch will be showcased by Massena LAB at the upcoming WatchTIME New York 2023 event this weekend from October 20 to 22 at Gotham Hall in Manhattan.
Massena LAB creates, designs and develops watches with renowned watchmakers. Founded by William Massena, a famous watch collector and industry expert, Massena LAB proposes ideas or concepts to manufacturers that are unusual and go beyond those from their collections. .
After observing the Monopusher Chronograph firsthand, Massena approached Pinaud with a special request: a personalized order with a modified case design. What initially began as a personal commission quickly evolved into a broader endeavor as fellow Massena enthusiasts in the collector world also showed a keen interest in owning one. the equivalent watch was made by Pinaud. This initial collaboration eventually evolved into the creation of the Sylvain Pinaud x Massena LAB Chronograph Monopoussoir.
Meticulously handcrafted at the Sylvain Pinaud atelier in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland, this watch emerges as a masterpiece of artisanal dedication. Its beating heart is an unnamed hand-wound movement, equipped with a fully integrated column-wheel chronograph, complete with horizontal clutch. The mechanism is activated by a single pusher placed inside the crown, allowing for seamless start, pause and reset functions. Notably, the movement’s integrated chronograph function, meticulously finished by the watchmaker himself, is exposed on the dial, providing a captivating visual spectacle.
The dial is a creative collaboration with Comblémine SA—the dial maker of Kari Voutilainen—combining modern design with classic marine chronograph aesthetics. Encased in titanium, sapphire windows on the sides as well as a sapphire case back, demonstrate the precision and artistic craftsmanship that define each Sylvain Pinaud watch, inviting admiration from almost every angle .
Chronograph Monopoussoir Sylvain Pinaud x Massena LAB is available for viewing by appointment only. Production is limited to three units per year, with deliveries taking place over three years, and with a total of 10 versions expected to be produced. Prices available upon request.
